Help for The Perfect Fit As many of us have come to find out, dog products are not created equal. Unfortunately, this means that if your dog wears a “Small” from one designer, it does not necessarily mean that he will wear a “Small” from another designer.
As a guideline, we provided individual sizing charts and/or sizing dimensions on the specific product pages to assist you in finding the correct size for your dog. Please measure your dog before purchasing to ensure the best fit possible. When in doubt, please call us at 817.430.4500 or toll free 877-290-2338, or email us at bark@thenoseydog.com. We'll be happy to help! GENERAL MEASUREMENT GUIDELINES: • Neck: Measure the neck at its thickest point, specifically, right above your dog’s shoulder. • Chest: Measure the chest at its widest point for the most comfortable fit. • Length: Measure your dog’s back from his neck to the base of his tail. • Weight: Although some designers provide sizing measurements by the dog's weight, please also check the General Measurement Guidelines above, as they are the best indicator of size. If your dog is still growing, or maybe in between sizes, it would be best to go up to the next size. HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG FOR A COLLAR: Measure at the thickest point of your dog’s neck, which is closest to the shoulder, and add 1 to 2 inches to the measurement to ensure a comfortable fit. If your dog is still a puppy, you may want to consider the next size up to allow for some room to grow. HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG FOR A HARNESS: Measure your dog's chest at the widest part, and add at least one inch for comfort. Again, if your dog is still a puppy or in between sizes, please consider going up to the next size. HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG FOR APPAREL: Measure the exact length of your dog for the best fit for sweaters and shirts. You should add a couple inches for a coat to ensure the most comfortable fit. If your dog is deep in the chest or a bit portly (i.e., overweight), please add 2 inches to the length. If an apparel item provides chest measurements, be sure to follow the recommended specifications. Keep in mind that weight dimensions are merely a general indicator of size. If you have a puppy or a dog that is between sizes, please select one size larger for your dog's comfort. HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG FOR A BED: Measure your dog’s full length when stretched out. Please keep in mind that your dog can always curl up in the corner of the bed, but a bed that is too small will not allow your dog to stretch out if he decides he wants to stretch! HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG FOR A CARRIER/TOTE: Measure your dog's length and compare those measurements to the dimensions of the carrier. It is very important that your dog is able to turn around in the carrier and have a little wiggle room. Please make sure to look at the dimensions of the carriers for the correct size for your dog. If you are looking for an airline approved dog carrier, please contact your individual airline prior to purchasing a carrier, or call us at 817.430.4500 or toll free 877-290-2338, or email us at bark@thenoseydog.com with any questions.
